Discipline equals freedom reddit9/25/2023 That is what I am to go for and it doesn’t mean that I will not be better than others when I compare myself to them. I simply don’t have the right DNA to be the best in those categories, but what does that mean? It means that I am going to try to be the best I can be the strongest, the fastest, and the smartest human being that I can become. Sure, if I trained my whole life, perhaps I could become fairly decent in those sports, but the best in the world? No. We all have limitations, I don’t have the right genetics to be an olympic sprinter or gymnast. There are people in the world who have skills and strengths and talents that I will never have. Only by enduring hard and grueling situations will we truly callous our minds. Sharpening our sword, honing our skills maintaining the unmitigated daily discipline in all things. The only way to conquer pain is by immersing ourselves in hell throwing ourselves into the fire. We just need to be strong and gracious enough to get through it. Because like Epicurus says, “that pain is never unbearable or unending, so you can remember these limits and not add to them in your own imagination.” Often common annoyances are pain in disguise, such as sleepiness, fever or a loss of appetite, so remember when they start to get us down, we have to tell ourselves we are giving into the pain. As horrible as it may feel, we must persist through the pain and not give into the immediate gratification whispering in our ears. It’s the minds natural instinct to want to quit once things get uncomfortable, but we have to gain ground and control over our minds, the mind can be pushed far past what is perceived, as ironic as it sounds, “it’s all mental.” We just have to have the will and mental fortitude to persist. When we endure through difficult moments a fight or flight signal kicks in, and that gives us one of two choices give in to the immediate gratification of quitting or persevere and keep fighting. As soon as things start getting hard and grueling people quit, I believe most people only use about forty percent of their capabilities. The mind is by far the most complex part of the human biology it is the most powerful tool we possess, but very few actually use it’s capabilities. It all starts with ourselves so go find the will and go find the discipline, then, only then will we be truly free. Become the discipline and embrace it’s cold and relentless power. We have to keep moving, we have to love the daily discipline of going to battle every single day and finding pleasure and fulfillment in whatever task we have in front of us, in the present moment, for it’s own sake. Discipline defeats the infinite excuses that say “not today” or “I'll do it tomorrow.” Discipline isn’t a trait or some genetic gift, discipline comes when we decide to make a mark in the world. The core principle that overcomes laziness and excuses. There must be discipline getting better isn’t a hack, it’s a campaign, a weekly, daily and hourly struggle.ĭiscipline is the root of all good qualities, an internal force the driver of daily execution. There is only hard work, late nights, early mornings, practice, study, repetition, sweat, blood, toil, frustration and discipline. It won’t happen cutting corners, taking shortcuts or looking for the easy way. To reach goals and overcome obstacles and to become the best human beings possible will not happen by itself. There is no easy road to improving and to being free physically, mentally and financially. The shortcut is a lie and the hack won’t get us there. People look for the shortcut, the hack, the one thing and they never find it. Everybody wants freedom physically, mentally and financially, but a lot of people struggle to find that freedom. One of the things I believe in the most, is individual freedom.
